ALLAHABAD: Allahabad University got its own ambulance which was pressed into service on Wednesday. Provided by the funds of Vidhayak Nidhi of MLA from City North, Anugrah Narayan Singh, the ambulance was formally inaugurated in front of the office of the dean student welfare (DSW) by the MLA in presence of AU's V-C Prof A K Singh.

ALLAHABAD: A two-day seminar on 'Agrarian Change and Small Farmers' organized by the GB Pant Social Science Institute concluded on Monday. The seminar explored alternative ways of addressing issues concerning marginal-and small farmers who comprise 90% of all farmers in the country and contribute 43% of the total value of agricultural output.

ALLAHABAD: Two persons, including an army jawan, were shot dead by a group of five assailants near COD Gate under Naini police station limits on Thursday. Police investigation has revealed that the assailants, who were on two motorcycles, had an altercation with the two victims near COD Gate over the issue of playing Holi. The scene took an ugly turn when the assailants shot them dead by a 0.315 bore countrymade pistol.

ALLAHABAD: Substandard colours could harm skin, eyes and other parts of the body. The health department has initiated steps to spread awareness regarding the use of cheap colours during Holi. The experts said that people should avoid substandard colours being sold at makeshift shops.
