Padmaavat will release on January 25.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court cleared the decks for the all-India release of controversial movie Padmaavat on January 25 and stayed notifications and orders issued by Rajasthan and Gujarat prohibiting exhibition of the film in their states.

Padmaavat, which was earlier named Padmavati, has been a bone of contention between Rajput groups and the makers. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ran into troubles right from the beginning when he started shooting in Jaipur. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.

December, 2016: Sanjay Leela Bhansali started preparing for his biggest film till date. However, he had to stop shooting for a few days because a worker died on the sets of the film after falling from a stand. Deepika Padukone offered condolences on Twitter.
