Railway is ready to welcome the Pilgrims

Allahabad. The state government is expecting crowds higher than the last Kumbh of 2001. In 2001 1.1 crore people came here on Makar Sankranti (January 14) and 3.5 crore on Mauni Amavasya (February 10), the railway department is ready to provide better facilities to the pilgrims with a top class security.

Indian Railways will operate 750 special trains to welcome devotees.

The government expects nearly one lac passengers to visit the Kumbh each day of the 55-day event. This number will be increased by many times at Bathing dates.

Mr. Alok Johri, General Manager NCER while talking to media persons on Friday said that the facility of booking railway tickets will be provided directly in the Sangam area. Here, pilgrims can book tickets through UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) and PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counters. They would also be provided information regarding train timing. In addition, various facilities have been provided at Allahabad railway junction, Naini junction and Vindhyachal station that come under the NCR zone.
