A Division Bench of Allahabad High Court comprising Mr Justice Arun Tandon and Mr Justice S.P.Kesarwani has dismissed a writ petition filed by Dr M.D.Tewari, Director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIIT), Allahabad and asked him to immediately hand over charge to the senior most Dean. As regards appointment of a new Director, this will have to wait for some time till the Court disposes of another petition filed by Dr M.D.Tewari challenging the selection process initiated for the post of the Director IIIT Allahabad, The Court has directed the parties concerned to file their respective replies in response to the points raised by Dr Tewari.
The judgement must have come as an anti-climax for Dr Tewari who was till recently basking in the sunshine of success he had achieved in hosting a big conference of global scientists including several Nobel Laureates and arranging a memorable symposium and other programmes. Whether Dr M.D.Tewari will challenge the High Court by appealing to the Supreme Court is best known to him and his advisers. While some supporters might be goading him to go to the apex court there will be many others who could be dissuading him from going with his grievance to the apex court, telling him that he has already played his glorious innings. There is no doubt that Dr M.D.Tewari has done an enormous lot for this institution. But there are many who might not have got along well with him due to various reasons. But all that should be regarded as be a closed chapter now. He has been dynamic, dashing and gifted with a strong sense of determination. We are sure he would be knowing how best to deal with the current situation.
