After being drafted by the New York Giants in the 1991 NFL draft, he played for the team till 1993. McCaffrey then joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1994 where he played for the team only a year.
However, fortunate McCaffrey won a Super Bowl XXIX with the team in his first year. Throughout his thirteen years of career, he won three Super Bowl rings, the one with San Francisco 49ers and two with the Denver Broncos.
For his amazing performance, McCaffrey was named to the Pro Bowl in 1998. Unfortunately, during the opening game of the Broncos’ 2001 season, he suffered a leg fracture against the New York Giants.
Again in the 2003 season, he suffered injuries that led him to retire earlier on February 29, 2004, with his career record of 565 receptions for 7,422 yards along with 55 touchdowns.

Ed McCaffrey after his retirement as a professional footballer began coaching the youths and started his youth football camp called, SportsEddy in 2011.
He also trained in other sports like lacrosse, soccer, baseball, and basketball. Moreover, McCaffrey also started The Ed McCaffrey “Dare to Play” football camp and the “Dare to Cheer” cheerleading camp for people with Down syndrome in partnership with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation.
Likewise, he became the head coach at Valor Christian High School in 2018 and later for the University of Northern Colorado in 2019.
Unfortunately, he was fired from the position by Northern Colorado on November 22 due to disappointment with the team’s results.
