I didn’t know where this place, ‘Orchha’ is. So I searched Internet and learnt that this town was established by Rudra Pratap Singh sometime after 1501, as the seat of an eponymous former princely state of central India, in the Bundelkhand region.
Orchha lies on the Betwa River, 80 km from Tikamgarh and 15 km from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh…. It is supposed to be a tourist centre as well. Now you will wonder how the hell did I suddenly get interested in this city? Well, I read a small item which gave me a big jolt. The report said that a girl from the Govindpur locality of Allahabad was caught red-handed at 1.30 am in the night participating in the forbidden-apple-sharing game in a hotel with two young men, one belonging to Jalaun and the other to Jhansi. And this is something that would shock you even more. The owner of the Hotel is a member of the BJP.
My main worry was that the girl hailed from Allahabad’s posh locality of Govindpur. How is it that sex racketeers are active in this area too? Is there a long string of call girls who are supplied on order to clients in distant if not obscure places like Orchha? Another report says that the city is located in Madhya Pradesh. If that be so it means that it is an inter-state sex racket operating from Madhya Pradesh with its agents, pimps and touts active in Allahabad too. And if the Govindpur girl can be supplied in Madhya Pradesh why not elsewhere? The local police must try to smash the racket. The Allahabad girl couldn’t have been kidnapped. Or was she?
