Former South African businessman and CEO of Steinhoff International, Markus Joosts died on March 21, 2024, due to being shot by himself in his home in Hermanus.
As per several sources, he killed himself when he was about to be arrested. He died after a day of being fined R475 million by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).
He was fined for his activities between 2017 and 2017 that uncovered gross infractions of financial market laws.
