Boeing Whistleblower, John Mitchell Barnett was found dead on March 9, in his truck in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn.
He had a gun in his hand next to a note. After the investigation, the Charleston County coroner’s office revealed that the cause of his death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Well, at the time of his death, he was in Charleston, South Carolina for his deposition regarding the complaint against Boeing.
According to an interview with his lawyer, Brian Knowles, Barnett was supposed to report for the third day of his deposition but did not show up on the next day.
Brian Knowles and Turkewitz during an interview with CBS News said, “Barnett was in very good spirits and really looking forward to putting this phase of his life behind him and moving on. We didn’t see any indication he would take his own life. No one can believe it.”
Likewise, his family said, Bernett was suffering from PTSD and anxiety attacks working in the hostile work environment at Boeing which might have resulted in his death.
However, Boeing released a statement, “We are saddened by Mr. Barnett’s death, and our thoughts are with his friends and family.”
